ROLE We are seeking a Civil Rights Investigator/Intake Specialist to support the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio (USAO-NDOH) in Cleveland, OH. In this role, you will support affirmative civil rights enforcement by conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and preparing reports that assist AUSAs in pursuing justice.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct preliminary inquiries into allegations and draft memoranda recommending next steps
Assess the specific nature of allegations and supporting materials
Review case information and perform preliminary research
Plan, coordinate, and conduct in-depth civil rights investigations across the District
Draft documents and data requests to obtain relevant information
Interview victims, witnesses, managers, and officials in consultation with AUSAs
Apply Concordance, Casemap, or Sanction software to develop timelines and analyze evidence
Manage investigative databases cataloging evidence and reports of civil rights violations
Extract and categorize materials for inclusion in investigative databases
Arrange necessary litigation support in coordination with AUSAs and IT staff
Analyze database information to identify supporting facts and evidence
Prepare reports for AUSAs, USAO management, and the Civil Rights Division
Coordinate with the Civil Rights Division and other DOJ components as needed
Conduct background legal research at the direction of AUSAs
Prepare factual summaries and evaluations with recommendations for enforcement action
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Six (6) years of experience working with Law enforcement and/or enforcement of Civil Rights statutes
Experience and familiarity with Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Experience and expertise necessary to perform the tasks and duties of the position
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of investigative techniques (e.g., interviewing, evidence analysis, etc.)
Skill in building and managing case databases with large volumes of records
Ability to draft clear, detailed memoranda and reports for legal audiences
Proficiency with litigation support software such as Concordance, Casemap, or Sanction
Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, law enforcement, and federal agencies
Strong interpersonal skills for working with victims, witnesses, and community stakeholders
