POSITION SUMMARY
Operate Hydraulic boom crane, Lattice Boom crane, and lift equipment to move materials, machines, or products in many directions. Ensures that the powered industrial equipment is maintained and in working order.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are as follows: ensures that the crane and forklift operations are done safely 100% of the time; that where feasible the crane and forklift operations are scheduled and meet the needs of the shipyard 100% of the time; that preventive maintenance (PM) are done on the powered industrial equipment to prevent breakdowns 100% of the time and that they maintain their crane operators license 100% of the time.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
· Maintains and ensures that the cranes, and other powered industrial equipment are operational and preventive maintenance is scheduled and completed per the preventive maintenance schedule for the piece of powered industrial equipment.
· Develop lift plans, determine load weights, and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
· Move levers, depress foot pedals, and turn dials to operate cranes, cherry pickers, electromagnets, or other moving equipment for lifting, moving, and placing loads.
· Inspect cables, slings, grappling devices for wear and install or replace cables as needed.
· Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and grappling devices, making repairs as necessary.
· Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms and lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions and damage.
· Direct helpers engaged in placing blocking and outrigging under cranes.
· Load and unload bundles from trucks, and move containers to storage bins, using moving equipment.
· Review daily work schedules to determine sequences of crane usage, and special loading instructions.
· Direct truck drivers backing vehicles into loading bays, and cover, uncover, and secure loads for delivery.
· Inspect bundle packaging for conformance to regulations and customer requirements and remove and batch packaging tickets.
· Review production schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
· Review operations and confer with technical or executive staff to resolve production or staffing problems.
· Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
· Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
· Coordinate, develop, and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
· Maintain current knowledge of the quality control field, relying on current literature pertaining to materials use, technological advances, and statistical studies.
· Review plans and confer with architect and executive staff to develop new processes if needed.
· Attend meetings pertaining to production and safety.
· Ensure employees follow safety policies.

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience:
· Five or more years of experience operating cranes and other industrial powered equipment.
· Two or more years’ experience supervising subordinate staff
· Must have current NCCCO crane operator’s license.
