Sandbox Solar
On-site
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
$22 - $22 USD hourly

If you like being a part of an award-winning company, growing at such a fast pace that it creates upward opportunities for those who excel, you’d want to work here! Sandbox Solar has recently been named a Colorado Companies to Watch finalist. Add that to numerous other local, state and national awards for innovation, growth, and quality, and you should get the idea that Sandbox is pretty unique in NoCo.

If you thrive in a culture where things like Self-Sufficiency, Solution-Oriented Thinking, Living Life to the Fullest, and Convergent Teamwork are the values, you’ll want to work at Sandbox. Those are the values we don’t just talk about; we live them.

We are looking for a skilled Customer Relations Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for residential customers once their solar project is sold, offering regular updates, answering questions, and helping navigate next steps. It also includes some administrative tasks that support the pre-construction and permitting process and internal coordination

This is a client-facing position, but unlike retail, it's about guiding clients through a much longer journey. Our solar projects unfold over several stages, and our clients rely on regular updates, reassurance, and clear answers to feel confident in the process. We’re looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, has strong active listening skills, a calming and kind presence, and can remain composed and solution-oriented when tensions rise.

Here is a Sampling of What the Successful Candidate Will Be Doing:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the pre-construction phase
  • Communicating project status updates via email and phone
  • De-escalating customer concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Submitting permits and interconnection applications and following up as needed
  • Maintaining project records in our Project Management System (Airtable)
  • Coordinating with the internal team to ensure smooth project flow
  • Supporting customer scheduling and timeline updates
  • Offering general support to teammates and jumping in on tasks as needed in a fast-moving environment

We Require:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service, especially in construction, utilities, or trades, is highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay calm under pressure when managing multiple client requests.
  • The desire to build our company's reputation in word and deed as we strive every day to become an influence for good in our community through self-sufficiency and sustainability.
  • Excellent active listening, communication, interpersonal, organization, and problem-solving skills to establish real relationships
  • Willingness to learn the basics of solar project phases to confidently explain timelines and processes to clients.
  • Capable of navigating bureaucratic constraints and conventions while fostering long-term relationships with local building departments, utility providers, and inspectors, thereby ensuring confidence in our reputation for quality work and conduct.

This won’t be right opportunity for those who:

  • Can’t sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time, lift up to 20 pounds, and work on a computer
  • Doesn’t genuinely enjoy helping others and creating relationships
  • Just want a job rather than a role in an incredible big picture
  • Can’t easily get along with a lot of different people-those who work on roofs, those who work in the office, city, county and utility permitting offices, and of course, our customers
  • Aren’t able to be a calming and soothing influence when emotions can run high as deadlines approach.

Bonus Points For Those Who:

  • Have customer service experience in residential construction and/or related trades
  • Are familiar with Airtable or other no-code databases.

Job will be approximately 60% On-site, and 40% Remote
We expect to fill this job by September 15, 2025
