Business Banking (BB) manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise customers, mid-market corporate customers, and regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional online trading customers.

Business Lending (BL) is a product and specialized sales team that offers working capital, business loans, asset finance, corporate finance, and property finance to our customers. It also has responsibility for Line 1 risk and controls for these products. BL is directly responsible for product management, process management, portfolio and pricing management. It also works closely with bankers, data and analytics, digital and customer experience teams.

The Asset Finance business vision is to be the trusted advisor for customers considering Plant & Equipment purchases. As a whole, we are responsible for all aspects of the management of the asset finance portfolio, which includes distribution, product and processing functions. The Corporate Origination team mirrors the bank’s service structure, providing asset finance support to top-end corporates.

Reporting to the Lead Director Corporate Origination, the key purpose of this role is to generate asset finance opportunities with new to bank and existing clients. Supporting our Major Client Group, Specialised Agribusiness and Client Acquisition teams with their client’s asset finance requirements, you will provide everything from introductions through to technical knowhow, where you may lead a deal team on a multi-million dollar transaction from origination, to credit approval, to negotiating contractual terms, to funding.

To be successful in this role you will have deep asset finance experience and contacts, strong relationship management skills, a focus on getting the best customer outcome above all else, experience working with referral partners and a passion for your customers.

More specifically, you will:

• Be a trusted advisor to your frontline and risk colleagues and customers for all things asset finance;
• Meet New Business and Balance Sheet targets for your respective segment, maximising market share, by proactive engagement of internal and external stakeholders;
• Provide ongoing market intelligence and training to your frontline and risk colleagues;
• Bring ‘New to Bank’ opportunities to our broader business partners.
• Run meetings with the C-Suite of large and listed businesses with complicated debt structures.
• Advise on, structure and price, vanilla and structured asset finance lends;  
• Continue to think of new ways to add value to customers through the asset finance product;
• Provide support to more junior team members;
• Be an active and contributing member to a high-performing and highly engaged national distribution team; and
• Support the Bank’s vision and culture of excelling in customer service and risk management.

• Highly experienced in asset-based lending;
• A proven track record of origination and relationship management;
• Drive, determination, a passion for learning, and listening and supporting customers;
• Exceptional reading, analytical and communication skills, both written and oral;
• Technical ability including proficient use of Excel, PowerPoint and MS Office;
• Confidence as a presenter, with the ability to influence;
• Sound knowledge of asset finance products;
• Experience in managing large complicated finance transactions; and
• Proficiency in reading financials and understanding lending risks.
