Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Disaster Relief Project Manager to oversee and coordinate disaster response efforts in the aftermath of natural and man-made disasters. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of essential aid, managing logistics, and providing overall project management expertise to support emergency relief operations. This role requires someone with excellent organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a deep understanding of disaster management protocols.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:
- Lead and manage disaster relief projects, ensuring effective and efficient coordination of resources, personnel, and logistics.
- Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, local authorities, and community leaders, to ensure seamless delivery of services.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management:
- Oversee the transportation, distribution, and storage of relief supplies such as food, water, medical supplies, and shelter materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and distribution networks to ensure timely delivery of resources.

Team Management and Training:
- Supervise and provide guidance to a team of disaster relief workers, volunteers, and field staff.
- Train team members in emergency response protocols, safety procedures, and best practices for relief efforts.

Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor the progress of relief operations to ensure the project is on track and objectives are being met.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to senior management, donors, and external stakeholders.
- Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of relief efforts and implement improvements as needed.

Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify potential risks and challenges in disaster relief operations and develop contingency plans.
- Ensure all activities comply with legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Ensure the welfare and safety of team members and affected communities during the relief efforts.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Humanitarian Studies, International Relations, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in disaster relief or emergency response, including project management experience in disaster settings.
- Proven experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations in disaster response.

Skills & Competencies:
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Solid understanding of disaster response logistics and supply chain management.
- Familiarity with humanitarian standards and disaster management frameworks (e.g., Sphere Standards, NIMS).
- Ability to work in challenging and often dangerous environments, with a focus on safety and security.

- Proficiency in English (additional language skills are a plus).

- Flexibility to work in diverse and sometimes unstable locations.
- Willingness to travel and work long hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
