**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a reliable and responsible self-starter to join our Geotechnical team as a Drill Rig Operator. The ideal candidate will operate drilling equipment to clear access to boring locations and bore exploratory vertical holes into the earth to evaluate soil types and strength characteristics. This position requires the ability to work in various environments, including urban and remote areas with difficult access.
**Responsibilities:**
- Assist drill/clearing teams in performing drilling and clearing services.
- Operate the Rig in a safe manner.
- Prepare detailed and legible field notes.
- Ensure all team members wear necessary safety equipment.
- Communicate regularly with Director and/or Project Manager.
- Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Lay out boring locations and ensure security of field samples.
- Operate miscellaneous drilling equipment as needed.
**Qualifications:**
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with Hollow Stem Auger drilling.
- Familiarity with CME45 and CME55 track rig operation techniques.
- Professional judgment, consistency, and attention to detail.
**Work Environment and Physical Demands:**
This role involves working outdoors and occasionally in an office environment. Fieldwork will require lifting equipment, standing, bending, and exposure to various environmental conditions. The role also involves operating a drill rig, which may result in exposure to high noise levels.
**Required Education and Experience:**
An associate�s degree is preferred, but 3 to 5 years of professional experience is required. A commercial driver�s license with endorsements is preferred, or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
