Where do you fit in?
As a Process Engineer PTM is a seasoned process engineering professional with over 5 years of experience, responsible for remotely monitoring oil and gas facilities including wells and subsea and delivering performance reports. This role is pivotal in the early identification and escalation of production performance issues, contributing directly to the continuous improvement of operational efficiency.
While the position does not include direct reports, the engineer is expected to engage proactively with on-site production teams and key support personnel to ensure alignment and effective communication.
What’s the role?
As a Process Engineer PTM, you will be responsible for supporting the technical integrity of your assigned assets or thematic area. Your primary focus will be on proactive technical monitoring of process technologies, ensuring operations remain within the defined safe operating envelope and limits for the relevant process units.
You will audit and contribute to the development of technical content and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational compliance. This role involves analyzing unit and equipment performance, identifying potential risks, troubleshooting reliability and performance issues, and uncovering opportunities for continuous improvement. Your insights will directly inform multiple key deliverables across the organization.
- Supports continuous improvement of the theme area. The PTM engineer is assessed based on the delivery of theme area improvement each year which is considered comparable to supervisory team leadership. Maintains and improves the portfolio of their respective theme areas and delivers value through improvement of the overall theme.
- Supports compliance with global and site standards for technical monitoring process and practices in collaboration with Projects & Technology and Global work process focal points. This includes implementing and ensuring sustainability of such programs as Advanced Technical Monitoring (ATM)
- Provides inputs and guidance to the OSE’s assigned to the physical assets to ensure their assigned assets are operated in a safe, environmentally sound, and reliable manner in accordance with the license to operate and the defined safe operating envelope.
- Trains OSE’s and others in how to develop, maintain and use Proactive Technical Monitoring (PTM).
- Maintains up to date technology specific knowledge through LFI, technical networks etc. so as to be able to proactively identify threats to the units or business coming from the wider Shell organization or industry knowledge and practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve unit capacity, yield, availability, and utilization in support of the site and business plans.
- Participates in technology forums and conferences to share learning and maintain and improve competencies in their specialty.
- Maintains and helps develop training materials and guidance manuals designed for Engineers in conjunction with P&T and Learning
What do we need from you?
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering / petroleum engineering or related discipline.
- With experience in operations or process engineering within the oil and gas industry, particularly in upstream environments.
- Knowledge on timeseries data tool and advanced data analytics tools such as SeeQ/JMP/PI Vision
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience with offshore and subsea operations is highly desirable.
