This position is a part of ADAMA’s Global formulation process engineering team and responsible for scale up of formulations, from lab to pilot and pilot to production, maintenance and upgradation of pilot facility, introduction of new process technologies, collaboration with other formulation development, engineering, and production teams of ADAMA, globally.
Reporting: Global Head of formulation Process Engineering, ADAMA.
Location: Dahej, Gujarat
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the implementation of the R&D workplan in the pilot within agreed timeframe
- Planning production of formulations ahead of production in the pilot.
- Interfacing with Formulation R&D and Formulation Process Engineers to receive a new formulation and implement its production and/or scale-up in the pilot.
- Documentation of work procedures for each pilot according to defined development processes.
- Responsibility for orders of raw materials, inventories and familiarity with the pilot's raw materials.
- Execution of all pilots, monitoring the pilot processes and conditions.
- Transfer of samples produced to researchers/analytical lab/warehouses on demand.
- On site checks of formulation stability, interactions with R&D personnel and local QC in order to summarize pilot results.
- Testing of new processes for optimal scale up to the formulation plant line. Taking a proactive approach in process development and optimization.
- Ensuring working condition of pilot equipment, testing of existing and new pilot equipment.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure successful implementation of new a process or changes in existing process. Participation in first production runs if needed.
- Follow and enforce all pilot safety, housekeeping policies and procedures. Taking responsibility for all activities in and around the pilot facility. Working according to relevant standards.
Required skills:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the development or manufacturing of pesticide formulations, both liquid and solid.
- Knowledge of materials used in the manufacture and development of formulations.
- Familiar with formulation production equipment and with relevant analytical tools such as particle size and viscosity determination
- High technical capabilities and high learning ability
- Well organized and systematic work
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to work in a team and with interfaces such as production, plant engineering, QA, QC, supply chain and the like
- Initiative, creativity and flexibility of thought
- Ability to work independently
Education, Experience & Skills:
- Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering - M.Sc./ M.Tech or equivalent from a known university – a must
- Engineering work experience in a formulation plant and/or R&D. At least 5 years – a must
- Familiarity with and experience in formulation scale-up to production processes - an advantage.
- Agrochemical industry experience - an advantage.
- Experience in managing a small team - an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience in working with surfactants - an advantage.
- Gujarati and Hindi – native or near native, English - full control – .
