Industrial Project Manager
 
Job Summary:
The Industrial Project Manager is responsible for the internal management and successful execution of customer jobs – including industrial manufacturing, repairs, overhauls, machining, and field service projects—within Exline’s R&M division.  This role coordinates cross-functional teams, manages schedules and resources, ensures compliance with technical and quality standards, and serves as the primary internal advocate for customer requirements.  The Project Manager drives on-time delivery, cost control, and continuous improvement, while maintaining clear communication with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Field Services teams.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight to technical teams, with a possibility of assuming direct supervisory responsibilities within six to twelve months.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Customer visits and inspections required for job scope, quoting, and application understanding.
  • Develop detailed project plans for customer jobs, including scope, deliverables, schedules, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate intake, disassembly, repair, machining, inspection, assembly, and delivery activities for a variety of industrial equipment.
  • Monitor project progress against milestones; proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, schedule risks, and resource conflicts.
  • Ensure all work complies with OEM/customer specifications, Exline SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for assigned jobs, facilitating communication between shop floor, engineering, quality, field service, and customer service teams.
  • Lead regular project meetings, status reviews, and daily huddles to drive accountability and transparency.
  • Document and communicate project status, changes, and issues to stakeholders; maintain accurate records in ERP systems.
  • Interpret customer requirements and ensure they are translated into actionable work instructions and quality standards.
  • Support customer visits, inspections, and audits; coordinate responses to technical questions and change requests.
  • Manage customer expectations regarding timelines, deliverables, and scope changes.
  • Ensure all project activities meet Exline’s quality standards and customer specifications; coordinate inspections, testing, and documentation.
  • Track project costs, labor hours, material usage, and subcontractor expenses; identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.
  • Support accurate job costing, invoicing, and financial reporting in partnership with Finance and Operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, R&D, and customer service, to meet project goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to all team members.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in machining technologies and methodologies to enhance processes.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including as a customer facing Exline representative.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in project management within industrial repair, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and ask for assistance when appropriate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of project management experience in industrial setting.
  • Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with engineering software, programs and tools.
 
Independent Action:
Duties are performed both independently and under direction of management. Recommends, designs and implements controls and process improvements/efficiencies based on department objectives. Consults with supervisor regarding major policy decisions.
 
Working Conditions:
This position is on the shop floor 60% and office 40%. Environment may require use of PPE including hearing protection, safety shoes, safety glasses, etc.  Use of a computer, tablet, hoist, forklift, and tools are required. Occasional travel to customer locations may be required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks on a regular basis. The employee must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time. Frequent use of hands and arms is required for handling, feeling, grasping, and operating tools or equipment. The role also requires adequate visual acuity, as well as the ability to communicate effectively through speech and hearing.
The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
