Position: Irrigation Repair Attendant
Department: Golf Maintenance
Normal Working Hours: 6:00am – 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, with required overtime, emergency call-outs, and weekend rotation based on seniority

Position Overview:

The Irrigation Repair Attendant is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and seasonal operation of golf course irrigation systems. This includes troubleshooting and repairing Toro sprinklers and satellite systems, pump station components, and assisting with general golf course maintenance tasks. The role requires hands-on technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in varying weather conditions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair Toro sprinklers, pipe and fitting connections, wire faults, and satellite controllers

  • Use wire locating devices and multi meters for diagnostic purposes

  • Assist with seasonal procedures: winterization and spring start-up of irrigation systems and pump stations

  • Lay out and install irrigation schematics for tees or greens; read and interpret shop drawings

  • Troubleshoot and repair pump station components, including cla-valves, packing, and dump valves

  • Perform general golf course maintenance duties as needed (mowing, trimming, watering, raking bunkers, topdressing, fertilizing, grooming, etc.)

  • Follow safety procedures and departmental protocols at all times

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience on a golf course or in a turf-related field

Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Toro irrigation systems

  • Ability to identify and correctly use thrust blocks, solvent weld vs. gasket fittings, and air relief valves

  • Familiarity with pump station mechanics

  • Capable of reading and interpreting irrigation schematics and shop drawings

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Knowledge of golf cart safety

Work Conditions & Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent bending and stooping

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions

  • Required to be available for off-hours and emergency repairs

  • Must attend all required training including orientation, safety training, and departmental sessions

  • Adheres to all Greenbrier and Golf Maintenance safety policies and performance standards
