Job Summary

Perform routine manual work involving design, installation, extension, maintenance, and repair of irrigation and sprinkler systems.  In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position. 

Essential Functions

Perform preventive maintenance on irrigation and sprinkler systems and inspect systems for proper operation. Troubleshoot existing problems and assist in complex remedies.  

Provide technical expertise and manual labor for installation of new irrigation systems or expansions of existing systems. Perform maintenance activities and repairs on existing irrigation and sprinkler systems.  

Assist in the design and layout of new irrigation systems. Assist in the development of specification and requisitioning supplies and parts of irrigation system maintenance. Make periodic inventory of supplies and notify supervisor of needed materials.

Maintain related records and drawings of irrigation systems in place on the property and keep them updated regularly.  

Direct assigned personnel.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma and three (3) years of related experience.

2. Must possess a Texas Irrigation License.

3. Knowledge and ability to operate and maintain a variety of sprinkler systems.

4. Knowledge and understanding of state and local codes.

5. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.

6. Experience working with tools and equipment associated with irrigation of large grounds.


SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.

 2. Operating a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position; all final position candidates will be required to undergo a motor vehicle records check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.   Thereafter, motor vehicle records checks will be conducted annually.

Copies of transcripts must reflect completed coursework and conferred degrees. All academic coursework and degrees must be from an accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).
 
Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
