Position Function

Inspect, install and repair all irrigation systems throughout the City of Altamonte Springs.

Tasks/Duties

  • Maintain and repair all irrigation systems in city parks, medians, right-of-ways, and city facilities.
  • Inspect and install irrigation systems 
  • Coordinate routine irrigation maintenance checklists and work reports as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist with landscape installation and renovations.
  • Trouble shoot problems relating to irrigation controllers, wirings, and valves. 
  • In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
  • Complete required trainings as specified within the City’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. 
  • Assist with Department of Leisure Services and City projects, as assigned.
  • Drive to and from City work sites. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.
  • In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
  • Complete required trainings as specified within the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in irrigation repairs, installation, and trouble shooting.
  • Must have experience operating trenching machines
  • Valid driver license.  Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Rain Bird series controllers.
  • FNGLA Certified Landscape Irrigation Service Technician. Must obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Willingness to adopt AI and emerging technologies.

Supplemental Information

Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related felony offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
 
Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and a Criminal Background Check.
