The Engineering Project Manager, who directly reports to the Manufacturing Maintenance Engineering Manager, provides efficient and effective engineering and project management leadership across all Publix manufacturing facilities. This includes guiding manufacturing plant engineers and managers to improve asset productivity, minimizing shrink, increasing associate productivity and safety, implementing capital projects, and providing engineering solutions for replacement, capacity, and improvement initiatives. Additional responsibilities include:
engineering, designing, directing, coordinating and managing the planning, equipment suppliers, equipment purchasing contracts, fabrication, installation, integration, execution and the ultimate completion of capital projects
developing and maintaining engineering specifications and documentation
manages multiple projects and coordinates internal and external resources
evaluates project risks and provides project status updates as needed
works closely with Manufacturing Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Information Technology (IT) and Manufacturing Logistics Planning (MLP) as required with specific projects
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related analytical field or equivalent experience
2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Valid driver’s license
knowledge of sanitary processing and sanitation best practices including regulatory codes, HACCP programs and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
knowledge of maintenance practices and the disciplines of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles and theories and the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and systems
knowledge of power and electrical systems and controls, gas, water and waste water, refrigeration utilities and systems and industrial construction
Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Project)
AutoCAD software or equivalent software (MicroStation, etc.)
knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Civil drawing documentation including generating, modifying and reviewing facility and utility designs and plans
ability to organize, plan and execute large-scale projects from vision through implementation
excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
strong problem solving skills
ability to work independently and be a self-starter
ability to analyze information and data
ability to plan, organize and follow through on tasks
ability to learn new, complex ideas or concepts
ability to be exposed to highly confidential information and matters

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering
2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
knowledge of purchasing practices including Publix’s Terms and Conditions, Supplier and Contractor requirements for insurance, indemnity and confidentiality and Publix’s procurement and accounting processes. (This will require direct involvement with MSP in negotiating large scale capital projects and following the purchasing process to the end.)
Engineer in Training and/or Professional Engineering Certification
