About the Role:

 

As a Millwright (Surface) at Dumas, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting critical surface infrastructure and mechanical systems that support mining operations. Working with fixed plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, mills, hoist systems, and processing equipment, you will ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and contribute to safe and efficient production. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on surface mechanical equipment including crushers, conveyors, screens, feeders, pumps, pipelines, compressors, etc…
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot failures, and execute repairs efficiently to reduce downtime.
  • Install, align, and commission new equipment using precision tools (laser alignment, dial indicators, torque tools).
  • Fabricate, weld, and modify parts as necessary to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of mechanical systems and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Perform rigging and lifting tasks safely following proper procedures and load calculations.
  • Work collaboratively with electrical, operations, and engineering teams to meet production and maintenance targets.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Dumas and site-specific safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Valid Industrial Millwright (433A) Red Seal certification or provincial equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial or mining maintenance experience, preferably in surface mining environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment alignment (asset).
  • Experience with CMMS or digital maintenance reporting systems is an asset.
  • Excellent safety record and commitment to safe work practices.

 

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 10-hour shifts. Straight days

 

Compensation: This position offers a competitive wage along with a comprehensive benefit and retirement package. Meal and travel allowances along with accommodations for out-of-town workers are also provided.
