We are currently looking for experienced Mortgage Loan Originators to work in our various offices throughout the State. They are responsible to originate permanent FHA, VA, conventional, and construction, residential mortgage loans and participate in related business development activities.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of Mortgage Origination experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)

 Regular Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Originates permanent single-family residential FHA, VA, conventional, and construction mortgage loans and participates in related business development activities. Solicits residential first mortgages through contacts with realtors, builders, and developers.  Provides service to customers and prospective customers seeking residential mortgage loans. 
  • Receives, reviews, and process applications. Interviews applicant to develop information concerning their needs, desires, and earnings to assist in determining whether the loan will be an acceptable risk; obtains and analyzes pertinent financial and credit data.  Acquaints applicants with their rights and responsibilities pertaining to the loan application.  Follows current loans to ensure compliance with terms.
  • Markets Bank of Utah Mortgage services and customer relationships that will generate mortgage lending activity for the Bank.
  • Adheres to all procedures and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and ordinances. Such as the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), and the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE).
  • Must register with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) within 90 days of employment and maintain that registration and adhere to the tenets of the SAFE Act in properly displaying and notifying clients of their NMLS registry identification number.
  • Arranges for title searches and obtains necessary documents.
  • Ensures the preparation and processing of forms and legal documents required for residential loans. Assures that loan package is complete and presents file to the loan committee for approval or denial.  Explains credit policies and obtains additional loan information/documentation.
  • Ensures that the necessary documentation is received in a timely manner to accurately calculate the commissions due to the Loan Officer.
