Who You’ll Work With

Responsible for leading CRBG’s regional Commercial Mortgage Lending origination initiative.

About The Role

This role is responsible for leading Commercial Mortgage Lending origination in the major metropolitan areas located in the West, Northwest and Southwest US regions generating between $750M and $1B of annual loan production. This person will report to the Managing Director/Regional Loan Originations Head.

Responsibilities:

  • Originate a variety of loan types including floating rate, fixed rate mortgages, construction, development to perm and transitional with maturities of 5 to 30 years.

  • Pro-actively develop, foster and maintain strong regional relationships with owners, operators and developers of institutional quality commercial real estate assets as well as correspondent/brokers, mortgage bankers, and other sources of third-party commercial mortgage loan origination opportunities.

  • Prescreen qualify and price loans prior to the underwriting and closing process.

  • Successfully evaluating risk/return across the commercial real estate capital structure.

  • Oversee and coordinate with the underwriting team to prepare credit presentations for investment committee approval.

  • Participate in presentations to investment committee.

  • Work closely with structuring, closing and distribution/syndication team.

  • Monitor closed investment and maintain dialogue with borrowers.

  • Exhibit cooperation and teamwork to ensure that goals and objectives are met.

  • Collaborate with senior management to ensure best practices and consistent execution.

  • Be seen as a “role model” for the office staff and foster a collegiate and enthusiastic working environment

  • Monitor micro/macro CRE market conditions, attend CRE related conferences, visit markets covered, and further develop all direct distribution channels.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven track record of originating floating and fixed rate loans.

  • Definable regional relationships with real estate brokers, key mortgage bankers, commercial banks, developers and investors, and other sources of third-party commercial mortgages.

  • Understand the risks associated with transactions and the ability to structure transactions to mitigate risks.

  • Strong organizational and underwriting skills.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and financial skills.

  • Experienced in all aspects of property valuation, capital markets and financial analysis across all asset types (multifamily, retail, industrial, office, lodging, other).

  • Independent and self-driven worker who exceeds own high expectations.

  • Computer skills, including Word, Excel, ARGUS and Power Point.

  • Advanced degree preferred. Additional experience or course work in Valuation, Asset Management, and Property Management a plus.

  • Excellent professional reputation.

  • Excellent transaction management skills.

  • Strong and independent work ethic with an excellent attention to detail.

  • Collaborative personal/professional style that advances a collegial partnered approach to meeting corporate objectives.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $200, 000 to $225, 000 at the commencement of employment.  Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered will ultimately be dependent on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

In addition, the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
