What’s the role
Shell Scotford is seeking fourteen (14) Power Engineering Student Operators (also known as Student Operators internally) who are currently enrolled in Power Engineering Program or Computer Managed Learning.
As a Power Engineering Student Operators, you will be assigned to units that contribute to your steam time for Power Engineering certification. You may also have the chance to work in multiple process units on site. Your work will be guided and supervised by a qualified shift operator and a Production Team Lead.
The start and end dates for this role will vary based on the specific program and school you are attending.
Duties will vary depending on placement however could include the following:
Unit rounds
Troubleshooting
Monitoring equipment
Assist in preparing the equipment for maintenance, as well as for sampling and testing
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Must be enrolled in a Power Engineering program (finishing first year or graduate term of the program in April/May) or a 4th Class Certification course requiring steam hours to complete either your 4th or 3rd ABSA certifications
Must possess a valid driver's license
Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces
Ability to follow safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level
Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Willing to comply with Shell's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures
Willing to engage in new digitalization solutions and learn new technologies as applicable
Open to working a rotating shift schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays
Willing to work outdoors in inclement weather
Must reside within the area or be willing to relocate at your own expense for the duration of your student term
