Job Description:

Position Salary Range: $57,900 - $60,000 per year; DOE

The Project Manager is a 4-year full-time position for the Sustainability Teachers Academy (STA) within the Lifelong Learning department and College of Global Futures, housed in the Walton Center for Planetary Health on the Tempe campus.

Under administrative direction, the Project Manager performs work to oversee and direct the activities and functions of Canopy for Kids, a project funded by the City of Phoenix. Independently ensures that the goals and objectives of the project are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop deep knowledge of programming and oversee the end-to-end development and delivery of the Canopy for Kids program funded by the City of Phoenix in partnership with Watershed Management Group

  • Provide program oversight, development and facilitation in relation to teacher professional development and urban forest installation

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and collaboration skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills that provides clarity and fosters trust across facilitation and school teams

  • Supervises and facilitates the development of high impact training materials, training content, training delivery modes, meetings with program/project participants;

  • Establishes expenditure controls and recommends the allocation of resources within the limitations of the budget.

  • Directs the recruitment of local participants within the region utilizing the most appropriate promotional and marketing methods.

  • Able to train and guide colleagues with less project management experience to use tools and processes

  • Effectively influence and invest colleagues toward a common goal with a shared sense of purpose, joy, and pride in our shared work in the process

  • Oversee the preparation of proposals for continued funding; acts as the primary liaison with current funding source.

  • Travel as needed to schools and workshop venues in Phoenix, Arizona

  • Supervises the activities of subordinates.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Managing projects funded by a municipality 

  • Urban Forestry and tree planting programs

  • Overseeing events, workshops or conferences for educators

  • Budgeting and accounting principles.

  • Working with Google drive, Asana, MS Outlook and all MS Office applications.

  • Composing written communications and editing for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Overseeing teams and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.

  • Standard office policies and procedures.

Working Environment:

  • Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
  • Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.
  • Expected to be responsive to customers, engaged in work production, resourceful, flexible, and respectful of others.
