On behalf of our client, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, we are recruiting for a Project Manager to work on an application modernization initiative.
Deliverables will include:
- Manage several Project Managers, each responsible for an element of the project and its associated project team
- Manage the project during the development, implementation and operations startup by ensuring that resources are made available and that the project is developed and is fully operational within previously agreed time, cost and performance parameters
- Formulate statements of problems; establishes procedures for the development and implementation of significant, new or modified project elements to solve these problems, and obtains approval thereof
- Define and document the objectives for the project; determine budgetary requirements, the composition, roles and responsibilities and terms of reference for the project team
- Report progress of the project on an ongoing basis and at scheduled points in the life cycle
- Meets in conference with stakeholders and other project managers and states problems in a form capable of being solved
- Prepare plans, charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing or displaying problems; work with a variety of project management tools
- Project sign-off
Qualifications
- minimum of ten (10) years of experience, within the last fifteen (15) years, as a Project Manager in an IM/IT environment
- experience within the last five (5) years with at least one (1) Public Sector** project where the proposed resource planned and executed a Large Project** for a Project Management Office (PMO) with national impacts and involving multiple internal and external stakeholders and/or vendors
- valid ITIL certification, as well as a current PMP or PRINCE2 Project Management certification
- post-secondary education from a recognized institution, in a related field of IM/IT or project management
- Experience with the following tasks in a complex IM/IT environment :
- Managing the project during the initiation, planning, execution,
- Overseeing requirements gathering, design, development, implementation and operations start up ensuring that the project is completed within the planned scope, time, cost and performance parameters
- Defining and document the objectives for the project; determine budgetary requirements, roles and responsibilities and terms of reference for the project team
- Tracking and reporting on the progress of the project on an ongoing basis and at scheduled points in the project life cycle by leveraging dashboards and other tools to inform stakeholders and senior management
- Preparing project charters, project management plans, communication plans, work breakdown structures, issue trackers, risk registers, risk logs and change requests
- developing and delivering status reporting to stakeholders including senior executive management** and working groups of IM/IT-related initiatives
- experience in implementing and adhering to an established change management process supporting the delivery of Information Technology (IT) systems projects
- experience with project oversight in a Project Management Office (PMO) leveraging Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) policy and guidelines on project management, as well as project gating.
- experience using Microsoft Project or Clarity Project Management Tool.
