POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to support the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) Accelerator Modernization Project (LAMP). The successful candidate must have a strong technical background and proven experience managing capital asset line-item projects under DOE Order 413.3B. The ideal candidate will possess a Project or Systems Engineering background and have direct experience managing projects within facilities governed by safety basis requirements. This role will involve daily interaction with scientists and engineers to support the design, procurement, testing, and installation of precision technical equipment.


Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage DOE 413.3B-compliant projects through all phases (CD-1 through CD-4).
• Oversee the design, procurement, testing, and installation of complex equipment and systems.
• Ensure integration of safety basis requirements into project planning and execution.
• Ensure project technical requirements are well documented and integrated with the facility requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk across project lifecycle.
• Prepare and present project status reports and documentation to stakeholders and DOE representatives.
• Drive project execution while maintaining compliance with DOE regulations, quality, and safety standards.



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering or related technical field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 12 years of project management experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Active Q Clearance required. 
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening,
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
  • Knowledge of the LANL Earned Value Management System (EVMS). Experience as a Control Account Manager responsible for cost and schedule reporting for a technical scope of work is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of DOE Order 413.3B
  • Demonstrated ability to procure, test, and install precision technical equipment (e.g., vacuum systems, controls equipment, custom mechanical components, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience working in highly regulated LANL facilities (e.g. facility safety basis, procedures, radiation work, etc.)
  • PMP Cert is preferred.
