Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and technically skilled Project Manager / Executive Expert to lead minerals and mining development initiatives across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. Ideal candidates will have 7–12 years of experience in consulting or infrastructure development, preferably from a Big Four firm or a top-tier international advisory firm.
The role goes beyond policy and project strategy—it requires strong technical proficiency in GIS-based mining data management, digital workflows, and the application of computer science and AI to enhance operational intelligence, regulatory oversight, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Strategy & Execution
Lead the design, execution, and oversight of mining sector programs, feasibility studies, and mineral value chain strategies.
Develop and implement data-informed frameworks for mineral resource governance, investment attraction, and regulatory alignment.
Design mechanisms to manage and utilize geospatial and operational mining datasets through centralized digital systems or custom GIS platforms.
Data Management & Technology Integration
Lead the integration of mining data into GIS platforms, dashboards, and custom-built enterprise data systems.
Collaborate with technical experts to digitize and consolidate nationwide mineral data—including licenses, surveys, and exploration records—on secure internal infrastructure.
Incorporate AI and machine learning tools to improve forecasting, risk identification, and resource mapping.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
Act as a senior advisor to government bodies, international donors, and private sector operators on strategic mining matters.
Support negotiations of PPPs, concessions, and project financing with an emphasis on transparency and data-driven decision-making.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Oversee multidisciplinary teams including geologists, software engineers, GIS analysts, and legal or ESG experts.
Promote knowledge sharing and skill transfer related to digital tools, data infrastructure, and AI applications in mining governance.
Risk Management & ESG Compliance
Implement and monitor ESG frameworks in alignment with IFC Performance Standards, EITI, and World Bank safeguards.
Use geospatial tools and AI models to evaluate environmental and social risk zones, optimize site selection, and support community engagement strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geoscience, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related fields.
7–12 years of experience in mining consultancy, digital mining project management, or extractive industries advisory.
Prior experience with Big Four firms or top-tier international advisory companies is mandatory.
Familiarity with Nigeria’s mining regulatory landscape and project permitting is required.
Technical & Analytical Skills
Proven experience using GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, GeoServer) for mapping, mineral rights tracking, and geospatial reporting.
Strong data management and digital transformation capabilities for field-to-database mining operations.
Proficiency in data science, SQL, Python, or related programming tools for custom analytics and AI integrations is highly desirable.
Experience building or managing centralized mining data repositories or information management systems is a key advantage.
Certifications
PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
Certifications in GIS, data management, or AI (e.g., ESRI, Google AI, Microsoft Azure AI) are an added advantage.
ESG, EHS, or sustainability certification preferred.
Personal Attributes
Strategic thinker with a digital mindset.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
Ability to synthesize complex technical and policy information into actionable strategies.
Comfortable leading projects across field sites and government institutions.
Access to global mining, AI, and ESG conferences and training.
