WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Project Manager to join the Roads team based in Wales, in either our Cardiff or Wrexham offices.

Your role will be at the heart of our high performing team, using your project management skills and expertise to help us continue delivering projects effectively and efficiently for a diverse range of sectors, clients and projects through all stages of the project life cycle.

You could find yourself managing the delivery of projects including strategic network improvements, major and minor highway maintenance and asset renewals, active travel and public transport infrastructure, road safety interventions, as well as public realm initiatives. Our well-established client base includes Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent, South Wales Trunk Road Agent, and Welsh local authorities.

A little more about your role…

You will…

  • Manage the delivery of highways projects for public sector clients through planning, design and construction stages.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and drive efficiencies throughout project execution.
  • Actively monitor, report and forecast project performance and take corrective action where necessary. 
  • Work with limited supervision to plan, execute, monitor and control projects as well as effectively managing project change.
  • Manage contracts and appropriately administer their conditions.
  • Work closely with Technical Delivery Leads in planning, programming, and pricing of proposals and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of the team’s internal knowledge base. Mentor and upskill junior staff helping them develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications.
  • You will be supported by a team of Senior Project Managers as necessary depending on the scale and complexity of project.
  • In your client facing role, you will work collaboratively with clients, key stakeholders and internal teams, as necessary to deliver the schemes/projects.

 

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Professional qualification in project management, and/or an engineering discipline.
  • Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM) or similar disciplines.
  • NEC accreditation would be advantageous. 
  • Membership of professional institutions such as: Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or Member of Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE).
  • A background in highway or rail infrastructure projects would be beneficial, but our focus is upon your ability and desire to develop your project management career to its full potential and demonstrate agility and transferability.
  • Demonstrate competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling, and commercial management.
  • Proficiency in use of project management tools and software.
  • Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM regulations.
