What?
Maintains plant refrigeration system performing service, repair and preventative maintenance. Maintains refrigeration system mechanical integrity, system documentation, and performs maintenance rounds. Journeyman level industrial maintenance mechanic responsibilities are in addition to refrigeration duties as available.

Main aspects of the role include:

• Inspects, repairs, and performs maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems. 
• Performs journeyman level industrial maintenance on packaging, processing, hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, boiler, wastewater, and other plant support equipment as available under vari­ous environmental conditions in accordance with manufacturers' recommendation
• Communicates with external auditors and compliance personnel about FDA, EPA, ASME, OSHA issues when required and approved by management.
• Communicates with vendors and purchasing/accounting to purchase repair parts and materials necessary for projects.  Writes purchasing documents and maintains a PO log.
• Ensures all cGMP refrigeration and maintenance work is performed in accordance with all applicable OFD compliance and FDA regulations.
• Fabricates and repairs cGMP equipment while always maintaining the corrosion resistance standards for stainless and aluminum pharmaceutical grade equipment. Repairs, maintenance, or troubleshooting performed under cGMP conditions will be performed while fully gowned in cGMP apparel and may also require compliance documentation, which must be completed in a timely manner.

• Noise level in the work environment can be loud
• Regular requirement to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, reach, carry, and lift and twist
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

OFD contains office, manufacturing and outdoor workspaces where this position is required to access and work.  The position requires a person to be able to frequently walk, stand and climb; bend and twist; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools, controls; use hands and arms to reach, hold and carry tools or items. This position also requires a person to handle environments of varied temperatures and with various food allergens present; and be comfortable at various heights.   

You!

• At least 4 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration and general equipment maintenance within a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience maintaining and/or repairing:
  • Canning and packing equipment
  • Boilers and compressors
  • Hydraulic and vacuum systems
• Successful completion of a state-certified mechanical apprenticeship program (e.g., millwright)
• Current RETA (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association) certification
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Reliable transportation for travel between company locations

• Completion of a state-certified LME apprenticeship or course
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Applied Science (A/S or B/S)
