Residential Estimator / Project Manager

About Us

At Stockell General Contracting Inc., we're a family-oriented team that takes pride in building high-quality, energy-efficient custom homes throughout the St. Louis area. For almost 40 years, our focus has been simple: treat every project like it's our own home and every client like part of the family. We believe in craftsmanship, honesty, and building smarter, healthier homes that will last for generations.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Residential Estimator / Project Manager to join our talented and growing team. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with our clients, our trusted trade partners, and our team in the field to make sure every home we build meets our high standards of quality and efficiency.

If you enjoy wearing many hats, working collaboratively, and seeing your projects come to life from start to finish, you'll feel right at home here.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare accurate project estimates based on plans, specifications, and client selections.
  • Organize bids, qualify vendor proposals, and keep project budgets on track.
  • Set up and manage project files in our project management system.
  • Issue purchase orders, prepare change orders, and keep clients informed.
  • Ensure that all work meets our high standards for quality and energy performance.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, designers, and our field team to keep projects running smoothly.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in residential estimating and project management.
  • Background in custom home construction; energy-efficient or green building experience is a plus.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office 365 applications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills - you're someone who enjoys keeping details in order.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and project management tools.
  • A team player who values relationships as much as results.

(A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is helpful, but not required if you have the experience.)

Why You'll Love Working With Us

  • Be part of a close-knit team where your voice matters and your work makes a real impact.
  • Build one-of-a-kind homes that you can be proud of.
  • Enjoy steady work-life balance with a team that values family and community.
  • Competitive pay: $70,000 $80,000/year (based on experience).
  • Paid PTO, health and dental benefits, and a matching 401K.
  • Opportunities for ongoing learning and growth in energy-efficient building.

If you're looking for a place where you can do great work, feel valued, and see the homes you build come to life, we'd love to talk to you!
