Under limited supervision of the Assistant Director of Capital Projects, performs functions related to the study, design, survey, and construction of capital improvement projects; answers questions and complaints of the public; investigates emergency situations; prepares reports, specifications, and construction documents as necessary.
Qualified candidates shall possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field AND eight (8) years of construction or design experience; OR Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field AND ten (10) years of construction or design experience; OR twelve (12) years construction or design experience with a high school diploma or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. SCDOT inspector certifications preferred. Engineer-In-Training certificate a plus – EIT’s will be afforded design experience opportunities in order to qualify for the Principles and Practices in Engineering Exam (PE Exam). Must have a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
