- Safely lift and position heavy equipment
- Calculate weights and select rigging equipment
- Inspect all rigging gear before use
- Direct crane operators using signals

- Knowledge of rigging techniques and signals
- Equipment inspection skills
- Physical strength and spatial awareness
- Banksman/Slinger training
