The Senior Drilling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing offshore drilling and completion operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution. This role involves supervising rig activities, coordinating with contractors and service providers, enforcing compliance with company policies and industry standards, and proactively mitigating operational risks.
Operational Execution
• Lead and supervise offshore drilling and completion activities to ensure adherence to drilling programs, safety procedures, and company objectives.
• Oversee all rig operations, including well construction, drilling fluid management, casing, cementing, well control, and completion activities.
• Ensure compliance with approved drilling and completion programs, industry best practices, and company safety standards.
• Monitor and optimize operational performance, including drilling efficiency, wellbore stability, and equipment reliability.
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce all SSHE (Safety, Security, Health & Environment) regulations, ensuring safe operations at all times.
• Conduct and lead pre-job safety meetings, drills, and audits to reinforce safety culture onboard the rig.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and company drilling policies.
• Implement emergency response procedures and ensure crew readiness for any abnormal situations.
Contractor & Service Provider Management
• Supervise and coordinate with drilling contractors, service companies, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth execution of operations.
• Verify that service providers meet contractual obligations and performance expectations.
• Address and resolve any performance issues with contractors, ensuring alignment with operational objectives.
Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting
• Proactively identify and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and non-productive time (NPT).
• Provide technical guidance on well control, pressure management, hole stability, and rig equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with onshore engineers to review and implement lessons learned and best practices from past drilling campaigns.
• Monitor and analyze real-time drilling data to enhance performance and ensure well integrity.
Reporting & Documentation
• Maintain accurate daily drilling reports, cost tracking, and performance analysis.
• Ensure proper documentation of all well operations, including deviations from the program, lessons learned, and recommendations for future improvements.
• Provide daily updates and recommendations to onshore drilling management teams.
Education & Certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Valid Well Control Certification (IWCF / IADC - Supervisor Level).
• BOSIET / HUET and other offshore survival and safety training as required.
Experience
• Minimum 15 years of experience in drilling & completion operations, with at least 5 years as a Drilling Supervisor.
• Extensive experience working on offshore rig with preference on jack-up or tender assist rig.
• Hands-on experience in well control situations, depleted formations, and extended-reach drilling.
• Proven ability to manage and lead offshore teams in high-risk environments.
