Role Overview:

The Senior Project Manager will lead the execution of complex commercial programs at Veranova’s West Deptford site, serving as the primary point of contact for the client and ensuring alignment across internal and external stakeholders. This role requires close collaboration with the site General Manager, Technology Director, development team, and Capital Projects team and the client’s cross-functional and onsite representatives.  The Senior Project Manager is accountable for ensuring that all program objectives are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining a high standard of communication, technical understanding and cross-functional coordination. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as the primary technical and project-related interface for commercial clients, ensuring a high standard of professionalism, responsiveness, and proactive issue resolution.  May support one or more clients depending on program size and scope.
  • Acts as the main liaison for the client’s full-time on-site (person-in-plant) representatives, ensuring strong alignment between on-the-ground activities and overall program goals.
  • Builds and maintains trusted, collaborative relationships with both internal cross-functional teams and external customers, ensuring mutual understanding of needs, priorities, and expectations. 
  • Partners with the Technology Director and other key stakeholders to maintain production schedules and support manufacturing investigations, ensuring issues are communicated clearly and resolved collaboratively. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Capital Projects to ensure capital buildout timelines support overall project strategy and client deliverables.
  • Leads, motivates and holds accountable a high-performing cross-functional project team, fostering a culture of ownership, excellence and customer-focused delivery.
  • Identifies and resolves complex, cross-functional challenges across multiple interrelated workstreams, consistently operating with a high sense of urgency and solution orientation.
  • Oversees all program communication, including client meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, KPIs, budget tracking, and presentations to the internal leadership.
  • Ensures key stakeholders are informed of program status, performance metrics, and key decisions through regular and transparent communication.
  • Works closely with Business Development to assess and manage out of scope requests, supporting the preparation of change orders and project proposals.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline, advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong technical background, ideally in complex pharmaceutical areas such as peptides.
  • Solid understanding of cGMP standards and regulatory frameworks for drug substance manufacturing.
  • 7-10+ years of hands-on process, analytical, or manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Proven success managing large, complex commerical programs and key clients under tight timelines.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to ensure client and business alignment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to lead weekly customer meetings, quarterly business reviews, and executive-level presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, manage expectations, and represent the organization with professionalism and credibility.
  • Comfortable influencing without authority and driving collaboration across departments and levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tight timelines and multiple interrelated workstreams.
  • Ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams to high performance and ownership.
  • Track record of delivering high-touch service, acting with urgency and accountability in all client interactions.
  • Experience managing client-facing teams, including on-site representatives, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
