The Senior Project Manager oversees the strategic plan and management of workflow and execution of all projects on behalf of their assigned non-profit clients and/or Agency Projects. They serve as primary contact for internal team members and potentially clients. They lead projects from concept/strategy through flawless execution on time and on budget. In addition, the Sr. Project Manager focuses on participating in hiring, onboarding, training, and managing of some PMs, and ongoing support and mentorship of the broader PM team. The Sr. Project Manager must be able to balance extremely quick deadlines, extensive client demands with diligence and an eye for quality.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for oversight and management on assigned verticals, and in some instances (depending on team structure) may manage 1-3 direct reports and/or mentor other PMs (Project Coordinator and/or Project Manager level).
- This role owns projects within their verticals, and will oversee workflow of client marketing & fundraising projects including, but not limited to direct mail, digital advertising, social media advertising, email marketing campaigns, collateral marketing pieces, and website landing pages.
- Plans, schedules and controls project activities toward defined scope and objectives, applying strategic thinking, technical and project management skills to satisfy project requirements.
- Gathers, documents, and shares project requirements and specifications.
- Develops project plans including budgets, time and resource allocation and timelines.
- Works with internal multi-functional teams (client services, strategy, production, creative, media, finance, IT, etc.) to manage the project team by ensuring stakeholder involvement, encouraging interaction, and defining and delegating responsibilities.
- Works alongside the client service teams and acts as an additional point of contact with clients of assigned accounts/projects; facilitates initiative-taking communication and issue resolution as it pertains to assigned projects.
- Proactively communicates with project team about recommendations, risks, challenges, and solutions.
- Establishes and works within standard processes yet adjusts to yield the highest value for the effort – identify opportunities to streamline, avoid rework and duplication of effort, involving the right people at the right time.
- Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path activities to ensure timely project delivery. Depending on business needs, creates visual representations of project interconnections and dependencies.
- Actively contributes to, and drives ongoing improvement of, internal processes and is responsible for the documentation, training, and implementation of said improvements.
- Assists in the hiring and onboarding of new PMs across the agency.
- Runs scheduled, internal meetings pertaining to capacity and budgeting with the PM cohort at large & other team members.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing/Advertising, or Project Management.
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in an agency, technical setting, or marketing department required.
- Strong computer skills including all Microsoft products (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with able to translate business goals into an actionable plan.
- Adobe Workfront project management software and/or technical background with software development experience preferred.
- Master's degree or PMP certification strongly preferred.
