WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Senior Project Manager for our Chicago, IL office.  Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges

Your Impact

The Project Manager will work on transportation infrastructure construction projects. Responsibilities include:

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from small renovations to large-scale new facilities.
  • Oversee all phases of construction, including planning, design, execution, and closeout.
  • Provide overall site management, coordination, and planning for subcontractors and developers.

Technical Oversight

  • Support scope review and development with internal technical teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analyses to define design requirements and equipment needs.
  • Provide technical direction on engineering design, AutoCAD layouts, building details, schedules, and materials in alignment with standards.
  • Review designs and ongoing construction for compliance with building specifications and identify opportunities for value engineering.

Contract & Budget Management

  • Negotiate contracts and change orders with consultants and general contractors.
  • Ensure contracts are cost-effective, fit for purpose, and include appropriate SLAs.
  • Track and forecast budgets for expansion, remodel, and new build projects.
  • Analyze proposed cost and time change requests and guide internal change requests for validity and impact.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Lead or assist in negotiations with regulatory bodies and AHJ entities.
  • Audit contractors for compliance with safety, quality, and competency standards.
  • Assess project performance using KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Facilitate due diligence evaluations for new opportunities.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and transparent communication across all teams.
  • Partner with transition teams for base building management and turnover documentation.
  • Coach and guide project teams (developers, engineers, contractors, internal stakeholders) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address and resolve underperformance issues promptly.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on vertical construction. 
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects and multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Proficiency in project management software 
  • Familiar with BIM, AutoCad, and scheduling software
  • OSHA 10-hour certification or ability to obtain. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Business Administration
  • 20  years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on vertical construction. 
  • Proficiency with eBuilder, Procore

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary: $157,500 -  $233,860

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
