WSP Canada is currently seeking to add a Project Manager to its Senior Hydropower & Dams team, within the Power Canada division. Energy Canada, a team of over 300 passionate and talented people across Canada, is committed to helping clients meet the growing demand for green energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As a Senior Project Manager within the team, you will work closely with the hydropower and dams design teams and our market managers to lead and manage projects and business opportunities with our various clients.

Under the supervision of the Project Management Discipline Leader, the successful candidate will ideally be based in one or other of our offices in Alberta.

What you can expect from us:

  • Manage large and major multidisciplinary projects in hydroelectricity and dams;
  • Lead diverse teams and coordinate with various departments for smooth project executions.
  • Research, develop and maintain strong client relations;
  • Evaluate project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, including the earned value method;
  • Use and develop leadership skills on an ongoing basis;
  • Attend conferences and training courses to maintain and develop new skills;
  • Occasional travel for project meetings, site assessments, training and other purposes;
  • Support project management processes, including opening, closing and quality assurance processes;
  • Track change requests to ensure regular follow-up;
  • Other duties as assigned/required, in project management, business development and control.

We would like to know more about you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant field.
  • Senior level experience (25 years or more) in the hydropower and dams market;
  • Excellent in project management skills. 
  • Member in good standing of the Professional Engineer of Alberta.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Technical knowledge and experience for the role;
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work;
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, deliver and manage multiple tasks;
  • Ability to meet deadlines, execute and manage multiple tasks;
  • Sense of initiative, proactivity, autonomy and attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of planning software (MS Project or Primavera P6) considered an asset;
  • PMP certification, or MBA, considered an asset;
  • Proactive approach to problem solving with good decision-making skills.
