Toolpusher – Offshore Drilling Rig
Location: Qatar (Offshore)
Rotation: 28/28 or 42/21
Reporting To: Rig Superintendent / OIM
Direct Reports: Drillers, Assistant Drillers, Rig Crew
Job Purpose
The Senior Toolpusher is
responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of all
drilling operations on the rig. This role ensures compliance with QatarEnergy,
ADNOC, and international standards (e.g., API, IADC) while leading the drilling
team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
· Supervise drilling, casing, and well
control activities to meet project KPIs (e.g., ROP, NPT).
· Oversee BOP and well control equipment maintenance
(per API RP 53).
· Coordinate with client reps (e.g.,
QatarEnergy, Shell) to align on drilling programs.
2. Safety & Compliance
· Enforce QHSE policies (QatarEnergy
COP, OSHA, ISO 45001).
· Lead emergency drills (kick
drills, abandon ship) and incident investigations.
· Ensure 100% compliance with
Qatar’s offshore regulations (MME, QP standards).
3. Crew Management
· Mentor drillers, ADs, and roustabouts (conduct
competency assessments).
· Manage rotational crew schedules (28/28
or 42/21).
· Resolve conflicts and maintain discipline.
4. Equipment & Cost Control
· Monitor rig equipment performance (top
drive, mud pumps, etc.).
· Optimize consumables usage (mud,
fuel, spare parts) to reduce costs.
· Approve maintenance logs and
OEM service reports.
5. Reporting
· Daily drilling reports to the
Rig Superintendent.
· Track KPIs (daily cost,
footage drilled, safety metrics).
Qualifications & Experience
· Education: Diploma/Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
· Certifications:
o IWCF Well Control Level 4 (Supervisor).
o OPITO/BOSIET (with HUET).
o H2S/Confined Space certifications.
· Experience:
o 15+ years in offshore drilling (10+ as Toolpusher).
o Qatar/GCC experience (preferred; familiarity with North Field
rigs).
o Expertise in jackup/semisub operations (e.g.,
GDI, Shelf Drilling rigs).
Technical Skills
· Proficient in drilling software (e.g.,
DrillPlan, WellView).
· Deep knowledge of QatarEnergy drilling
protocols (e.g., casing design, mud specs).
· Fluent in rig inspection audits (API
RP 2D, 8B).
Behavioral Competencies
· Leadership: Decisive under pressure (e.g., well kicks).
· Communication: Liaise with clients, crew, and OEMs.
· Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot equipment failures.
Compensation & Benefits
· Salary: QAR 35,000–45,000/month (based on experience).
