INTRODUCTION
Komatsu Kolomela is seeking an experienced Millwright Artisan to join their dynamic team. The preferred candidate should have at least 3 years post trade experience on heavy earthmoving equipment within the mining industry and a relevant Millwright Trade certificate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A qualified Millwright with a Grade 12/N3 Technical Certificate/equivalent of other country qualifications plus Millwright Trade Certificate.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 Years' experience on related earth-moving equipment.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Exposure to earth moving machinery
- Have good trouble shooting knowledge on machines & familiar with standard tool requirements
- Computer literate
- Good understanding of maintenance philosophy
- Good communication and inter-personal skills
- Valid driver's license.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Remains up to date with health and safety procedures.
- Participates in planning of health and safety events and campaigns, take SHE into account in the planning of work output. Conducts hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Implement the Komatsu Way 5S sorting, organising, cleaning, ordering and training.
- Adheres to SHE policies and procedures.
- Complies with and instructs colleagues and subordinates staff in the wearing of protective gear and clothing.
- Participates in workplace safety events.
- Stay informed about emergency first aid kits/fire extinguishers and evacuations procedures.
- Operates any vehicles (trucks, car, forklift) within safety standards and procedures, even when not supervised.
- Checks that the safety signs and signals are in place.
- Implements safety awareness in all activities.
- Reports hazardous situations, incidents, or accidents.
- Provided feedback on the effectiveness of safety events.
- Reports equipment that is not in good working order.
- Reports on vehicle usage and incidents.
- Plans for health check and inspection of equipment.
- Informs the leadership of the work steps and technical issues.
- Conducts visual machine/equipment inspection – health condition, breakdowns.
- Conduct general inspection in terms of appearance, damage, or missing components.
- Inspect for leakages, check machine operations, check rust, check for wrong or missing parts, download machine data, identify cracks visually, take samples (oil, coolants, etc.)
- Test and adjust faulty components/parts/systems.
- Monitors the functionality of the component/equipment and progress made.
- Reports inspection results, as well as any abnormalities or damage.
- Reports problems and issues to manager.
- Complete daily activity and service reports.
- Provide feedback regarding continuous improvement/suggestion to manager.
- Obtain necessary consumables items/parts/tools from warehouse via approved procedures.
- Apply judgement in the replacement or re use of parts.
- Gain technical advice or approval to replace a part/component.
- Execute mechanical/electrical repairs.
- Clean equipment/parts/component.
- Perform basic welding repairs.
- Plans for service of equipment regarding date, workshops, nominations of service, stock and other resources.
- Assess work/materials/items/parts required to resolve problem.
- Plans and prepares for anticipated service calls in conjunction with leadership.
- Plan maintenance for equipment in conjunction with leadership.
- Execute services on machines.
- Obtain technical advice on complex repairs.
- Checks returns unused consumables stock and parts back into stock.
- Reports service results as well as any abnormalities or damage.
- Obtains relevant manuals and resources and makes this available for execution of work.
- Checks that tools/equipment required for work are available and in good working order.
- Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented about key issues/problems/improvement.
- Orders parts and consumables as per plan.
- Executes overhaul of equipment according to procedure.
- Inspect equipment for compliance and quality.
- Reports on overhaul job statistics, problems, issues, and product feedback.
- Complete the component changeout form, commissioning report and customer feedback and warranty certificates.
- Plans troubleshooting process of equipment.
- Conduct fault finding
- Collects facts about breakdowns.
- Measure and compare readings – gauges, multi meters, heat guns, etc. to specifications.
- Identify abnormalities using five senses.
- Obtain technical advice on complex troubleshooting.
- Check specification values against actual values and recommends repair solutions.
- Report’s fault-finding results, as well as any abnormalities or damage.
- Informs the manager and maintenance planning on R&M Care information, schedules and plans
