Description

Under supervision of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Assistant Superintendent and/or Lead Irrigation Technician, operates, services, and repairs the varied components of the irrigation system. Regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and faces risk of electrical shock. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in extreme cold or heat (non-weather).

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Establishes preventative maintenance program for the irrigation system including the lake re-circulation system and water features.
  • Determine wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
  • Makes certain that all irrigation parts and tools are properly inventoried and stocked to minimize down time.
  • Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently.
  • Monthly run checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.

Process Responsibilities:

  • Operates, maintains, and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, computer and irrigation control wire.
  • Ensure the work is performed under safe working conditions.
  • Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to a Supervisor and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
  • Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly.
  • Assist with irrigation & drainage installation projects.
  • Attend staff meetings.

 

Qualifications

Attributes/Skills Required:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.
  • Working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding of carry out instructions furnished in written and oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Meet the physical demands of the position: Regularly stands and walks. Occasionally sits, climbs or balances and tastes and smells. Regularly uses hands to finger, feel or handle; reaches with hands or arms; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls; talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts more than 100 pounds.
  • Vision distance and color vision as well as depth perception.
  • Valid AZ Drivers License.

 

**Schedule Sunday thru Thursday Fri. & Sat. OFF 5:30 2:00pm Overtime available. Must be willing to work flexible schedule. Attendance bonus Starts at $17.00 DOE **
