We offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated young Saudi Transportation, Roads & Highways Design Engineer with a broad interest across these disciplines. The ideal candidate is flexible, eager to learn, and fluent in both Arabic and English

Key responsibilities:

The role involves leading and devising solutions responding to a wide range of projects including:

• Design and development of road infrastructure projects, including feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed designs, and preparation of technical specifications.
• Conduct engineering assessments, analyse data, and evaluate road conditions to identify and recommend appropriate design solutions.
• Support the preparation of transport studies, assessments, and mobility plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate road design with other infrastructure elements, including but not limited to drainage, utility, street lighting and landscaping disciplines.
• Traffic engineering and transport planning input into Roads Master Planning Transportation Studies, Corridor Development Studies, bus priority studies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards throughout road project design and construction phases.
• Supervise and monitor junior engineers, providing guidance and technical support to facilitate their technical development.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate project requirements, resolve technical issues, and addressing any concerns.
• Monitor project progress, review design changes and manage risks to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support in the preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies and cost estimates, contributing to the development of proposals and bids.
• Assist and compiling tenders for any Transport Planning/Traffic Engineering related opportunities.
• Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
• Maintain required technical quality of work.
• Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to discipline work scope.
• Assist Lead Engineer and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties.
• An interest in public transport planning, non-motorised transport planning & design, data analysis of public transport systems and project planning and implementation

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 3-5 years in a Civil, transportation consulting environment.
• Professional engineering accreditation from a recognized institution is preferred.
• Proven experience in designing and managing road infrastructure projects, preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
• In depth working knowledge of KSA and other Middle East Road design standards, regulations, and best practices in the region.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex engineering challenges and propose effective solutions.
• An interest in public transport planning, non-motorised transport planning & design, data analysis of public transport systems and project planning and implementation
• Excellent project management abilities, including the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines and allocate resources effectively.
• Strong technical knowledge of highway design principles, standards and software skills (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation).
• An ability to execute and manage traffic and pedestrian related micro-simulation modelling, including inter alia, the PTV software packages (Vissim, Visum and SIDRA, HCS & HTM with modelling experience as an added advantage
• Able to create base design models from agreed work scope.
• Computer literate (database / spreadsheets); Data analyses / and proficient in Excel (Advanced Excel knowledge.
• Ability to accept delegated responsibility for designated tasks.
• Arabic and English written and verbal communication skills.
