Chemical Cleaning Project Manager

Position Summary

The Chemical Cleaning Project Manager is responsible for but not limited to planning, coordinating, and executing industrial chemical cleaning projects across various sectors including petrochemical, power generation, oil & gas, manufacturing, and utilities. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within scope, budget, and schedule, while adhering to industry standards and client specifications.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of chemical cleaning projects from initiation to completion.
  • Prepare project scopes, timelines, cost estimates, and resource planning.
  • Lead project teams including supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations and internal HSE policies.
  • Oversee chemical selection and compatibility with systems and contaminants.
  • Supervise the mobilization and demobilization of equipment and personnel to/from site.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and resolve client concerns effectively.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations and generate reports for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in team safety meetings and cross-functional planning sessions. 
  • Online/remote safety training as required. 
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience within the industrial cleaning industry, with a degree in a related field. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the chemical cleaning process.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting equipment.
  • High skill level and knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and compliance.
  • Patience and the ability to work with others and cultivate teamwork.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage time and organize work against multiple deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Meeting physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, operating tools, and wearing safety gear.

Physical Requirements

  • Supervisors/Managers may need to be on their feet for extended periods while overseeing operations, meetings, or assisting their team.
  • May be required to walk around the worksite to monitor progress, ensure safety protocols are followed, or check on the status of team members.
  • Walk through the facility or warehouse, with occasional heavy lifting.
  • Lift lighter items (such as documents, boxes, or materials), typically up to 10-20 pounds, depending on the job.
  • Supervisors may need to move between multiple levels of a facility, warehouse, factory, or office building.
  • Movement between levels may require walking up and down stairs or using ladders.
  • Required to wear safety gear like hard-hats, gloves, safety boots, or goggles, depending on the environment when moving through warehouses, factories, or office buildings.

Work Environment

The work environment involves remote or industrial locations, including oil rigs, refineries, power plants, manufacturing facilities, and similar sites. Workers may encounter high noise levels, heavy machinery, hazardous substances, pressurized systems, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures. Rotational shifts and extended hours are common. Safety is paramount, with thorough training programs and personal protective equipment such as hard hats, gloves, and high-visibility gear provided to manage potential risks. Duties may require working outdoors in unpredictable weather, from intense heat to cold or rain. Frequent travel between job sites is also a key aspect of the role.
