Organization Profile
The primary mission of Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness, and outreach of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debt instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following: To provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; professional church worker education; the residential housing needs of professional church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.
Reporting Relationship
Loan Origination Specialist I reports to the Director, Loan Origination.
Summary
The Loan Origination Specialist I is responsible for communicating approved loan terms, obtaining and reviewing all loan conditions necessary for finalizing and producing proper legal documentation for all loan types (permanent loans, construction loans, refinance existing loans, etc.).
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare approval letters and communicate loan terms and process.
- Prepare legal files for post-close
- Review corporate documents and prepare borrowing resolutions.
- Prepare, file, monitor, amend, and terminate Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) forms with applicable county and state.
- Analyze title commitments to satisfy requirements, address exceptions, to ensure lien position and coverage is in accordance with the loan policy/requirements and procedures.
- Monitor, track and document Letters of Credit.
- Place orders with third parties (title, appraisal, flood certification, insurance, etc.) and assist borrower with meeting loan conditions, as needed.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience and progressive responsibility in commercial loans or real estate.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field, preferred.
- Experience working for a bank, credit union or title company, preferred.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Knowledge of commercial loan procedures and of loan financing, including loan documentation, coupled with an understanding of construction disbursement procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with both internal and external customers. Provide excellent customer service by exceeding customer’s expectations.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, tact, and respect through effective verbal and written communication.
- Partner with others to engage in problem-solving. Ability to clearly articulate issues and concerns and recommend solutions.
- Learns new skills/information/processes easily and applies new knowledge quickly. Ability to understand lien laws and state statutes relating to lien priority of each state. Ability to understand and become knowledgeable in state statues as it relates to mechanic and materialmen lien laws and documentation.
- Eager to learn all aspects/functions of the Loan Origination department, regardless of the current responsibilities.
