This position with the Duininck Construction team offers the opportunity to play a critical role across the full project lifecycle � from identifying and bidding new work to leading the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of awarded projects.
The Role:
- Identify new construction opportunities using lead generation tools, industry networks, and client outreach.
- Review plans, specifications, and conduct site visits to assess scope, conditions, and risk.
- Collaborate with Operational Managers and key stakeholders to determine project approach, staffing, equipment, and material needs.
- Solicit pricing from vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
- Develop detailed cost estimates using B2W software and recommend bid strategies and profit margins.
- Review bid proposals with the Lead Estimator for final approval.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to operations.
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and coordination of awarded projects in partnership with General Superintendents and the Director of Operations.
- Ensure compliance with Duininck safety policies, conducting site safety audits and enforcing PPE and training requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, material procurement, and logistics to maintain project schedules.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, inspectors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor budgets, production reports, change orders, and accounts payable/receivable to ensure project profitability.
- Address and resolve project-related issues including disputes, inspections, compliance matters, and scope changes.
- Conduct regular site visits to track progress, quality, and safety performance.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office, jobsite, and field environments.
- Travel throughout Central & Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and the Eastern Dakotas as needed.
- Regular site visits in varying weather conditions.
- Occasional extended hours depending on project schedules.
What We Look For:
- Bachelor�s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of combined experience in estimating, field supervision, and/or project management within heavy civil construction.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with estimating and project management software; B2W experience strongly preferred (Viewpoint a plus).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with crews, clients, vendors, and public agencies.
- Willingness to travel and adapt to project demands.
