As an Exploration Drilling Technician, you will directly contribute to innovative tooling solutions and play a pivotal role in customer success. The role offers a unique blend of hands-on technical engagement and career growth potential, particularly for those with aspirations to transition into technical sales or field leadership.

Key Responsibilities

As the Exploration Drilling Technician, you will support field teams and customers with expertise in Exploration Tooling, travelling across the Western United States approximately 50% of the time. You will be instrumental in trial support, troubleshooting, and tool optimization, gaining valuable exposure to operations and customer interactions.

Tooling Support & Optimization

  • Assist field teams and customers in the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of drilling tools and systems.
  • Ensure tooling performance is optimized for safety, efficiency, and project outcomes, particularly during field trials.

Customer Engagement & Training

  • Visit customer sites to provide hands-on support, training, and demonstrations of new tooling technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify opportunities for improvement and provide feedback to engineering.

Trial Scheduling & Execution

  • Manage and follow a dynamic field trial schedule across Western U.S. regions, ensuring seamless execution and reporting.
  • Work closely with R&D, Sales, and Product Management to deliver trial results, insights, and technical recommendations.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Liaise with sales teams to support customer relationships and identify sales opportunities for tooling upgrades or new solutions.
  • Document technical findings, generate field reports, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:

Education & Experience:

  • A technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Mining, or Geological Engineering is preferred, but equivalent experience is welcome.
  • 25 years of experience in mineral exploration, drilling operations, or a related technical support role.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with drilling tooling, downhole tools, or mechanical systems used in exploration settings.
  • Familiarity with technical reporting tools, basic diagnostic equipment, and standard operating procedures.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with field teams and clients effectively.
  • A self-starter with a proactive mindset and a willingness to travel frequently and work independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field.
