POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Senior Administrator of Population Health, the Health IT Manager is responsible for aligning the technology development strategies with emerging needs of La Casa de Salud’s primary care operations and value-based infrastructure. In collaboration with operational, clinical and IT leadership, this position will oversee projects related to patient access, integration, interoperability between Nextgen and external platforms, care team efficiency and other applications and projects that will enhance the clinical outcomes of the Primary Care. This role will also serve as the lead Electronic Health Record (EHR) Nextgen liaison to ensure Primary Care is maximizing the system to full utility on both the clinical and practice management components. This position will ensure the delivery of a patient-centric primary care experience, foster a safe, trauma-informed care environment where staff are engaged, develop and invested in the vision and mission of the organization. This is a supervisory position.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incubator
- Work with La Casa de Salud (LCDS) leaders to translate high-level organizational strategies into actionable innovation projects, drive delivery of strategy, designs, prototypes and pilots.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization, leverage design thinking to assist assessing needs, analyzing opportunities, and generate proof of concepts that can be tested to demonstrate value. Then champion the highest value initiatives, developing and presenting the business case around them, and ensure that they are placed with the right team to implement them and see the value realized.
- Maintain a current understanding of the evolving healthcare landscape and technology trends patient engagement, mobile health, population management, operational efficiencies, consumer and staff satisfaction, clinical decision support, care pathway automation.
- Develop and refine team capabilities in innovation methodologies related to design and development of solutions - Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Customer Development, Agile.
Project Management
- Develop a roadmap and capability for transferring successful innovation projects to operational teams for scaling.
- Regularly communicate with senior leadership regarding innovation team capabilities, objectives, value delivered and ROI on projects.
- Design and implement processes and systems for operationalizing focusing on quality support and a positive customer/patient/client experience.
- Optimize, integrate, and enhance key processes and workflows to assure results comply with business goals and compliance requirements.
- Oversee all aspects and phases of concurrent implementations and consolidations with mindset of reducing complexity and creating universal standards.
- Meeting all deadlines is a must.
Nextgen/Applications
- Provide direct support and training to providers and clinical/non-clinical staff as the application expert for Nextgen Practice Management and EHR systems
- Serve as the Nextgen liaison - identify and troubleshoot application issues, and work collaboratively with end users and other departments to find resolutions
- Work directly with IT production team to ensure technical opportunities and issues are addressed and/or escalated.
- Provide recommendations to IT, Informatics, QI and Leadership regarding new commercial opportunities for LCDS in digital health. This may include methods to augment existing offerings or completely new approaches.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to maximize utility of product.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, design and optimize key platforms such as EMR, SaaS Platforms, SharePoint sites, referral integration, etc.
Other
- Recruit, supervise, manage, develop and evaluate performance of all the Health IT team.
- Prepare and present program information to all levels of management within the customer and internal organizations structure.
- Attend Board Meeting as needed and present on projects.
- Represent the LCDS at conferences, seminars and meetings, as requested.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Administrator of Population Health.
REQUIREMENTS
- Masters degree in health administration, public health in healthcare management, business administration, health information management, health informatics, public administration, engineering or equivalent strongly preferred. BA required.
- Three (3) years progressive responsibility in management and supervisory experience in the areas of Health IT, operations, implementation, change management, project/program management
- One (1) year experience in Community Health Centers (preferred)
- PMP or CCMP license (preferred)
- Knowledge of Ambulatory, Outpatient, and in-patient operational workflows
- Design Thinking / human-centered design skills
- Budget management responsibility
- Experience leading innovation-related methodologies - Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Customer Development
- Agile delivery experience (preferred)
- Able to deliver high impact presentations to large groups
- Proven experience facilitating large groups/workshops with diverse participants that deliver specific outcomes
- Able to work effectively and coordinate teams that are cross-functional, cross-business unit, and cross-geography
- Strong understanding of the information technology landscape
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills - able to maintain effective relationships at a variety of levels in the organization
- Strong outcome and target-based delivery skills
- A compassionate and trauma-informed care approach to patients is essential
- Ability to travel between clinic and outreach locations across New York City
