Introduction

We are expanding our global footprint and seeking skilled Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Engineering Technicians to join our international project teams.
In this role, you’ll support major underground utility installations across energy, telecommunications, water, and multi‑utility infrastructure projects. You will work with advanced HDD equipment while helping to deliver safe, sustainable, and innovative drilling solutions worldwide.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up international HDD project sites, including layout, surveys, and equipment readiness.
  • Operate HDD drill rigs, reamers, tracking systems, and drilling fluid recycling equipment.
  • Perform pilot drilling and maintain precise control of the drill path to avoid existing utilities and natural obstacles.
  • Monitor and optimise drilling parameters (torque, fluid pressure, RPM, flow rates) for best performance.
  • Conduct borehole reaming and enlargement to required diameters.
  • Assist in pulling pipelines, cables, or conduits through completed bores.
  • Maintain high drilling accuracy in alignment, depth, and specification compliance.
  • Document operations: bore logs, as‑built records, maintenance logs, and reporting.
  • Uphold strict international HSE standards and ensure safe operations at all times.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, ground‑condition, or operational issues to keep projects on schedule.
  • Collaborate with diverse, multicultural teams across multiple global project locations.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Experience in HDD, trenchless technology, or underground utility installation (international experience is an advantage).
  • Training or certification in HDD or plant/equipment operation (CPCS, NPORS, or equivalent).
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with understanding of hydraulic and drilling systems.
  • Excellent understanding of global health & safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work in diverse environments.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varied climates.
  • High attention to detail in technical execution and documentation.
  • Valid driving licence (international licence advantageous).
  • Willingness to travel globally and work flexible hours, overtime, and emergency schedules.
