Position Title: ICT Shared Services Project Manager
Employment Type: Contract until 30 June 2026 (with possible extension)
Location: Canberra, ACT
Hourly Pay Rate: Negotiable dependent on experience
Security Clearance/Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated ICT Project Manager to lead the transition of ICT services from an internal model to a shared services arrangement with another government department. This role will also provide technical and managerial support to the in-house ICT team, currently comprising four staff members. The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in delivering ICT projects within the public sector and be confident in stakeholder engagement, financial management, and leading change initiatives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement an ICT strategy aligned with agency business goals.
  • Oversee and manage the transition of ICT services to a shared services provider, ensuring continuity, value for money, and a fit-for-purpose solution.
  • Provide sound, considered advice to internal stakeholders on ICT matters.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the agency and with external partners.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure IT systems and data are secure, reliable, and risk-managed.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the ICT team, including staff, budgets, and resources.
  • Monitor costs, timelines, and project deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in ICT project management, including managing medium-scale projects to completion.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management, with proven ability to engage across diverse groups.
  • Financial management expertise, including budgeting, reporting, and cost analysis.
  • Ability to lead ICT teams, manage resources, and oversee operational functions.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Previous public sector experience highly regarded.

  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1
