Tahoe Forest Products (TFP) was formed for the purpose of constructing a commercial sawmill in the Tahoe region to offer a nearby destination to deliver salvaged timber. TFP is dedicated to the responsible commercial milling of logs sourced within our region.  Our operations support forest health as part of critical fire fuels reduction efforts on public and private land, and in the salvage, clean-up and restoration of local areas impacted by devastating wildfires.    


 

Tahoe Forest Products is hiring an Industrial Millwright! The Industrial Millwright is responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery are in proper working condition and that mill production is maximized. This individual is required to work either an 8- or 10-hour shift, beginning at 7:00 am, and mandatory overtime is required when assigned. In the future, shifts could transform into a rotating schedule of 4-days-on, 4-days-off with 12-hour shifts from 6:00 am-6:00 pm or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Safety is of the utmost importance for this position, as this position is required to work with machinery, as well as on elevated levels and in confined spaces.


Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:

  • Clean, repair, and maintain equipment.
  • Perform welding and carpentry work when needed.
  • Determine work procedures by reading blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Dismantle, move, assemble, and install machinery and equipment.
  • Assist in rigging, lifting, positioning, and alignment of equipment and conveyors through use of hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and tractors.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Thoroughly document and report maintenance procedures, inventories, and records.
  • Conduct regular inspections for preventive maintenance purposes.
  • Perform safe operating policies and practices for all tools, vehicles, and machinery as instructed and assigned.
  • Perform related duties as required or directed by supervisors.
  • Assist others as requested or assigned.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintain professional and courteous appearance and demeanor.
  • Operate a two-way radio with clear verbal communication and follow verbal instructions in demanding high sound level environments.
  • Properly wear area-specific and job-specific safety gear including respiratory filters and harnesses when required

Requirements


  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Industrial Maintenance work or equivalent education to include vocational/technical school certificate.
  • Must demonstrate excellent safety standards and attendance, as well as a stable work history.
  • Must possess basic trade skills in industrial equipment repair, preventative maintenance, construction cutting and welding. Proficiency in use of hand and power tools and precision measuring and test instruments.
  • Knowledge of: Mig, Tig and Arc welding; bearing installment, coupling, belts, sprockets and gear box drive installations; metal fabrication; cylinder and valve repair.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems operation, basic industrial electricity issues, and loadbearing capabilities of equipment.
  • Strong comprehension of complex work instructions and attention to detail. 
  • Must possess basic computer literacy, mechanical reasoning skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.
  • Ability to read and write checklists, reports, and correspondence. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, memos, etc. Ability to read and follow blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to analyze and perform complex computations with reasonable speed and accuracy. Ability to understand a tape measure and perform basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Identify and understand safe rigging and handling procedures when moving items requiring a lifting device or mobile machine.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational or technical school in a related industry, preferred.
  • Completion of a US Department of Labor apprenticeship program with earned Journeyman certification, preferred. 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing facility, preferred.
  • Previous experience in lumber manufacturing, preferred.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS.)
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems.
  • Experience in root cause analysis.
  • Ability to be trained to operate heavy machinery.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, lift, stoop, squat, twist, reach above shoulders, ascend and descend ladders, and have specific vision abilities to include depth perception, close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer business equipment and control panels. Ability to perform heavy physical labor. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually high level.

 

The overall nature of the position is extremely active requiring heavy physical exertion. There is constant exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, inclement weather, and temperature changes ranging from -20°F to 120°F.
