We are recruiting for a motivated, hands-on person to join a well-run agricultural operation in the thriving country town of Goondiwindi. This position is based at a well-run cotton farming operation in the Goondiwindi region, offering long-term employment and hands-on year-round work. You'll be working alongside an experienced Irrigation Technician to keep irrigation systems operating efficiently across farming properties.
We're looking for someone with real-life, practical experience who can roll up their sleeves, problem-solve on the go, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. If you've worked in irrigation, civil construction, landscaping, labouring, plumbing, concreting or the trades, you'll fit in well. Someone who can take direction, think ahead, and be a reliable team member with a bit of get-up-and-go.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain irrigation equipment and components
- Service and troubleshoot pumps, channel gates, drive units and vac systems
- Maintain belts, pulleys and gland packing
- Install and maintain irrigation valves, flappers, checks, trash screen units and pumping infrastructure
- Install pipelines and support irrigation infrastructure upgrades (new or second-hand)
- Read plans and diagrams to determine heights, levels and installation requirements
- Understand soil types and compaction for structural and pipe works
- Manage basic parts stock for repairs and seasonal needs
- Maintain vehicles, tools and lifting equipment
- Submit service records, maintenance logs and schedules in a timely manner
- Operate machinery and equipment safely
Training & Support
No prior irrigation experience? No problem. Our senior technician will provide hands-on training and ongoing support, mentoring you step by step and helping you build confidence in the role.
Requirements - Must be physically fit
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Good communication and ability to take direction
- Practical mindset and attention to detail
- Solid basic maths skills are required
- A current HR licence would be an advantage
- Must undergo a medical examination and police background check
- Full-time position and not suitable for Working Holiday Visa holders
