Links Golf & Wellbeing is one of Australia’s iconic resort golf destinations. Since its inception in 1993 it has consistently ranked as one of the most outstanding courses in Queensland. Covering approximately 70 maintained hectares the course consists of 18 championship holes, 1 spare hole, driving range, chipping green, two practice putting greens and extensive clubhouse grounds. Cleverly designed by five times British Open Champion and one of the true greats of Australian golf, Peter Thomson, and his design partner, Mike Wolveridge, Links is known for its challenging layout and breathtaking views. The championship layout, set in a 360ha residential resort community, carries a par of 72, featuring 118 pot style bunkers and measures almost 6,500 metres from the championship tees.
Links Golf & Wellbeing is seeking the services of a qualified Irrigation Technician to join its Golf Course Maintenance team. This is a key position, working alongside the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, to oversee the daily maintenance, management and effective operation of the irrigation system. Ongoing planning and future development of the irrigation system will also be crucial.
The successful applicant will be confident with Rainbird sprinklers, hardware and software application plus possess extensive knowledge in the repairs of poly and PVC infrastructure. Previous experience working on golf course irrigation systems is highly desirable and the ability to operate an excavator and bobcat is also an advantage.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in irrigation and possess the necessary skills to perform a wide range of tasks to successfully play their part in ensuring the golf course is maintained to the highest possible standard. This position is a full-time role.
Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of irrigation equipment.
• Conduct inspections to identify any irrigation issues or potential problems.
• Diagnose irrigation issues and action appropriate repairs or adjustments.
• Ensure all irrigation equipment is properly serviced and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities performed on each piece of equipment.
• Assist in the planning, development and installation of new irrigation equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to ensure efficient operations across the golf course.
• Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
Skills:
• Proven experience as an Irrigation Technician or similar role, preferably within the golf or sporting industries.
• Strong knowledge of golf course irrigation equipment.
• Proficient in diagnosing irrigation issues and performing repairs.
• Ability to use various tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Good understanding of preventative maintenance procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently when required and also as part of a successful team.
• Effective communication skills along with the ability to train and mentor.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant certifications in irrigation preferred but not essential.
• Valid driver’s license.
