Job Summary
As a Project Manager (I/II/Senior) within Information Technology, you will lead cross-functional initiatives that support strategic growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance internal and external customer experience. You will be responsible for scheduling and managing project tasks from assignment through completion, ensuring that projects stay on track to meet defined objectives and financial targets.
This role acts as the central point of communication across diverse teams and organizational levels, managing stakeholder expectations, coordinating changes to scope, and maintaining clear visibility into project status. You will champion established project management methodologies, promote best practices, and contribute to the ongoing development of project delivery standards across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Leadership
- Own end-to-end delivery of assigned projects, ensuring successful outcomes that align with defined goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with business and technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and shared ownership of deliverables.
- Lead cross-functional teams by setting clear direction, managing scope, and proactively addressing risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for project performance, maintaining transparency through regular updates and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive execution with a focus on delivering measurable business value, high-quality outcomes, and continuous improvement.
Project Management Practices & Methodology
- Plan and manage projects using the most appropriate methodology (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid), applying sound judgement to align delivery approach with project goals and organizational context.
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including charters, plans, timelines, risks, decisions, assumptions, and scope changes.
- Champion the use of standardized tools, templates, and processes to ensure consistency, transparency, and effective stakeholder communication.
- Identify and implement improvements to project delivery practices based on lessons learned, team feedback, and evolving business needs.
Coaching and Development
- Serve as a resource for development project management capability across teams by mentoring less experienced team members and sharing practical knowledge.
- Promote a learning culture by encouraging reflection, feedback, and adaptive thinking within project teams.
- Support change adoption by helping teams navigate new processes, tools, or delivery approaches with confidence and clarity.
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Education: BA/BS degree or comparable work experience
- Experience: This position may be filled at the Project Manager I, Project Manager II, or Senior Project Manager level, depending on candidate qualifications. General guidelines:
- Project Manager I:
- 2-4 years of experience managing small to moderately complex projects with limited cross-functional impact
- Applies foundational knowledge or project management tools, practices, and delivery methodologies
- Requires regular guidance from more senior team members; focuses on learning internal systems and workflows
- Develops basic stakeholder relationships and begins to manage expectations and communications independently
- Project Manager II:
- 4-6 years of experience managing mid-sized, cross-functional projects
- Leads projects with moderate complexity, risk, and visibility, typically involving multiple stakeholder groups
- Applies sound judgement in selecting appropriate methodologies and adjusting plans as needed
- Works independently with minimal oversight
- Contributes to process improvements and mentors junior team members
- Senior Project Manager:
- 7+ years of experience leading complex, enterprise-level initiatives
- Manages initiatives with broad organizational impact, multiple workstreams, or external partners
- Acts as a strategic partner to business leaders by aligning project outcomes to organizational priorities
- Drives process improvements and champions project management best practices across the team
- Provides mentorship and guidance to peers; recognized as a go-to resource for complex project challenges
- Systems: Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g. Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, Teams)
- Skills:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lead without authority and influence across functions
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Work Environment: This is a remote position with occasional travel required for team meetings, stakeholder engagement, or as needed based on project demands.
