Job Objectives

  • Lead and execute reservoir engineering works for INPEX Malaysia’s operator projects.
  • Review and influence operator’s reservoir engineering work and development plan for non-operator projects
  • Support for developing new venture opportunities

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Person who has more than 15 years’ experience as reservoir engineer and specialty in planning and supervising DST is expected in this position.

Lead and execute reservoir engineering works for INPEX Malaysia’s operator projects

  • Lead and execute reservoir engineering studies including filed development planning and dynamic simulation modelling for DW4E and DW2A projects as directed in all its aspects.
  • Taking a lead role in the data acquisition planning/preparation/implementation related to formation testing for exploration and appraisal wells of DW4E and DW2A projects in line with exploration objectives, cooperating with subsurface G&G evaluation, operation geology, and operations teams.
  • Taking a lead role in the selection of wireline/LWD related to formation testing and fluid analysis service company, and in planning and implementing data acquisition for fluid analysis, and well-testing, cooperating with operation geology, drilling operations, and reservoir engineers from Tokyo HQ.
  • Supervision and monitoring of wireline related to formation testing, cooperating with the operation geology team and engineers supported from Tokyo HQ.
  • Lead and manage the interpretation of reservoir pressure data and fluid analysis data acquired from wells. Discuss the results with G&G and the operations geology team to evaluate the well results, resource estimation, and/or remaining potential. Taking a major role in appraisal planning if the well is successful.
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, PETRONAS’s and INPEX’s guidelines.
  • Support Exploration Manager in preparing the work program and budget for the reservoir engineering works.

Review and influence operator’s reservoir engineering work and development plan for non-operator projects.

  • Attend JV meetings, e.g. TCM/workshop of INPEX’s non-operator projects. Report and advise to appropriate teams as directed.
  • Review and monitor the operator’s reservoir engineering work plans and its implementations and influence and give feedback to enhance the project implementation and management from non-operator’s position.

Support for developing new venture opportunities.

  • Support and conduct data review evaluations for new venture opportunities, collaborating with the INPEX HQ team.
