A Brief Overview
The Licensed Mechanical Refrigeration will install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration, boiler, and chiller machinery and equipment in commercial or industrial establishments.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required


Experience Qualifications

  • Experience in health care related field Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Mechanical Journeyman - CTDSD Licensed by city of Topeka Required
  • Drivers License - DMV Current Valid Driver’s License and Clean MVR with 3-year baseline and annual MVR review. Required


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form (Required proficiency)

What you will do

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state regulations affecting Mechanical HVAC work.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Will be required to run the house during designated times.
  • Will be required to be on call during designated times.
  • Shovels snow from walks and driveways. Push snow with truck or tractor. Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
