Main Component Exchange Specialist

YOUR TASKS:

  • Checking / giving opinions on the lifting plan and map of the arrangement of elements in the square under the turbine received from the crane company
  • Supports the Main Component Exchange Coordinator in organizing the exchange by sharing technical knowledge on the subject of exchanges
  • Checking / agreeing on the list of tools and equipment needed for replacement works
  • Main component exchange tools and equipment handling, mainly but not limited to physical handling of tools in the workshop or container e.g. pack and prepare a gearbox exchange container which includes manual handling of the tools in the container
  • Ensuring availability and calibration/re-certification of tools  
  • Checking on site before starting work whether all the tools and equipment necessary to perform the work have been provided and all tools and equipment is calibrated/certificated
  • Ensuring safety and quality on site during main component exchanges
  • Preparing the turbine for the replacement of the main component - disassembly of the relevant components in accordance with the instructions and technical knowledge
  • Unloading and loading of tools and spare parts
  • Install the appropriate tools on the turbine according to the instructions and technical knowledge
  • Carrying out work with the use of a crane - supervising and execution of lifting operations suspending the load, communication with the crane operator
  • Disassembly and assembly of the main components
  • Preparation of the turbine for start-up after replacing the main component - assembly of the relevant elements in accordance with the instructions and technical knowledge
  • Preparation of reports on the replacement of major components
  • Support in settling the work of subcontractors (accepting work schedules)
  • On site training for internal as well as external Technicians for main component exchanges
  • Supporting acquisition of special tools
  • Supporting in creation of risk assessments and method statements for main component exchanges
  • Additional work that the Main Component Exchange Specialist will also perform is mechanical repairs of major components on top of the turret such as (but not limited to) gearbox bearing replacements, generator bearing replacements, blade alignment, yaw gearbox replacement.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Wind turbine technician course
  • Preferably bachelor`s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Slinger Banksman Training
  • Computer and software handling
  • Ability to manage several activities / projects at once to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts and offer comprehensive solutions to the problems
  • Experience in mechanical work, in particular in working with a crane
  • Able to work on height
  • Willing to travel to wind farms for within Service Area Europe East.
  • Flexibility to work overtime
  • High voltage training
  • Proficiency with Health and Safety procedures
  • Familiarity with several tools such as voltage testers, multimeters, amp clamps, infrared testers, hydraulic torquing/ tensioning tools (e.g. HyTorc, ITH)
  • Good communication skills in English language (spoken and written)
  • Physical requirements include the ability to climb a WTG 140 meters
  • Valid driving license, European Class B
