Minimum Salary: $60,500/Days: 250
Primary Purpose:
To provide adequate water to all plan materials, maintain safe athletic fields, playgrounds, and landscape areas, utilizing practices set forth by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Supervise and assist grounds crews to maintain the grounds of all district campuses and athletic fields in a safe and attractive condition.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Preferred High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Irrigator’s License
Valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas
Driving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of planting, pruning and care of trees, shrubbery and ground cover
Knowledge of turf management
Knowledge of design, installation, and repair of irrigation systems
Knowledge of irrigation control operations and functions
Knowledge of the layout of athletic field
Knowledge of marking and getting all athletic fields ready for games
Knowledge of PVC installation and techniques
Knowledge of general maintenance related skills
Knowledge of electronic devices (volt/ohm meter, wire tracer)
Ability to operate or using trenching and boring equipment and shovel to prepare trenches
Ability and endurance to perform tasks for up to 8-hour periods
Ability and mobility to perform tasks on all terrains
Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner
Experience:
Minimum five years of experience in landscaping or related fields
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Diagnose and troubleshoot valve malfunctions.
2. Ability to read and understand blue prints.
3. Understand state, city, and local water codes and restrictions.
4. Maintain irrigation systems within state and local regulation.
5. Operate trenching equipment, backhoe, etc.
6. Maintain PM maintenance scheduling and routing.
7. Maintain any required state and local records.
8. Follow instructions.
9. Complete assignments in a timely and workable manner.
10. Demonstrate acceptable work habits including teamwork, initiative and dependability.
11. Maintain professional appearance.
12. Coordinate, supervise, and participate in the grounds maintenance of all district campuses and athletic fields.
13. Assign duties to crew leaders and groundskeepers, and inspect completed work.
14. Coordinate, supervise and participate in the preparation of all athletic fields for games.
15. Periodically inspect all game field and facilities.
16. Perform any other job-related duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis.
